Если я спрашиваю о ваших идеях, мнении или просто прошу привести пример из личного опыта, то частенько слышу фразу: «What about my experience in this area I’m not knowledgeable or knowledgeable” Фраза “what about something/someone” звучит коряво по-английски, носители языка уж точно так никогда не говорят. Для того, чтобы объяснить свою точку зрения по какому-либо вопросу, начните с фразы: In terms of this issue – говоря об этом случае If you ask my opinion – если вы спрашиваете о моем мнении If we talk about this problem – если говорить об этой проблеме Это более подходящие вводные фразы в таких ситуациях. Помните об этом и лучше используйте правильные фразы вместо: what about my experience

EXCHANGES FOR UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY STUDENTS

JUMP!
"Close your eyes and jump, all initial doubts and fears fade into insignificance, overwhelmed by new experiences, new thoughts, new friends and new worlds."
Georgos S.P, Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Law - University of Cyprus.

The University of Sydney desires to offer all of its students a rich and comprehensive experience of university life. For over 25 years, the University has offered students the opportunity to study part of their degree overseas through the University of Sydney's International Exchange Program.

Through these experiences students not only enrich their degrees with international perspectives, but also gain a broader view of the world and of Australia. They also learn new life skills and grow personally. Many have found improved career prospects, because they now stand out from the crowd. And all of this while travelling and exploring the world.

With almost 260 exchange partners in 30 countries, there is sure to be a program that will suit your academic and personal interests.

This website provides you with basic information about the program, however, if you wish to find out more, you should attend a weekly Exchange Information Session held during semester.

You may also be interested in reviewing the Australian Government's Study Overseas website promoting the experience of studying overseas.

What is parallel structure?

Parallel structure is an important element of proper writing. Words, phrases and clauses should all be parallel when linked together in a series or connected with coordinating conjunctions. Combinations and patterns of words should all agree with the subject. However, many native speakers and ESL learners are left wondering what parallel structure is, and how can this technique be used in everyday writing? Taken from http://www.grammar.net/parallel-structure

Get Ready To Discuss English Mania

It would be easier to do with the script below. Other videos are available at http://lingualeo.ru/jungle

Let's talk about manias.Let's start with Beatle mania. Hysterical teenagers, crying, screaming, pandemonium.Sports mania. Deafening crowds. All for one idea. Get the ball in the net. Okay, religious mania. There's rapture. There's weeping. There's visions. Manias can be good. Manias can be alarming. Or manias can be deadly.

The world has a new mania. A mania for learning English. Listen as Chinese students practice their English by screaming it.

Teacher: ... change my life!

Students: I will change my life.

T: I don't want to let my parents down.

S: I don't want to let my parents down.

T: I don't ever want to let my country down.

S: I don't ever want to let my country down.

T: Most importantly ...S: Most importantly ...

T: I don't want to let myself down.

S: I don't want to let myself down.

Jay Walker: How many people are trying to learn English worldwide? Two billion of them.

Students: A t-shirt.A dress.

JW: In Latin America, in India, in Southeast Asia, and most of all in China. If you are a Chinese student you start learning English in the third grade, by law. That's why this year China will become the world's largest English speaking country. (Laughter) Why English? In a single word: Opportunity. Opportunity for a better life, a job, to be able to pay for school, or put better food on the table. Imagine a student taking a giant test for three full days. Her score on this one test literally determines her future. She studies 12 hours a dayfor three years to prepare. 25 percent of her grade is based on English. It's called the Gaokao. And 80 million high school Chinese students have already taken this grueling test. The intensity to learn English is almost unimaginable. Unless you witness it.

Teacher: Perfect!Students: Perfect!

T: Perfect! S: Perfect!

T: I want to speak perfect English.

S: I want to speak perfect English.
T: I want to speakS: I want to speak
T: perfect English. S: perfect English.

T: I want to change my life!

S: I want to change my life!

JW: So is English mania good or bad? Is English a tsunami, washing awayother languages? Not likely. English is the world's second language. Your native language is your life. But with English you can become part of a wider conversation. A global conversation about global problems. Like climate change or poverty. Or hunger or disease. The world has other universal languages. Mathematics is the language of science. Music is the language of emotions. And now English is becoming the language of problem solving. Not because America is pushing it. But because the world is pulling it. So English mania is a turning point. Like the harnessing of electricity in our cities, or the fall of the Berlin Wall, English represents hope for a better future. A future where the world has a common language to solve its common problems.

Thank you very much.
(Applause)
